Privacy Policy
kiili.me is the small network behind KiiLime: accounts, player profiles, and the KiiLimeDB community database. This page describes everything it stores and why. It was last updated in August 2026.
What we collect
- Account: a username and an email address. The email is used for exactly one thing - sending 7-digit sign-in codes. There are no passwords.
- Player profile: if you sign in from the KiiLime app, it syncs your player card - playtime totals, recently played games, your game library with achievement counts, your RetroAchievements username if you linked one, an optional profile picture, and any bio you write on KiiVerse. Your current status (online, away, or the game you are playing) is reported while the app is open.
- KiiLimeDB contributions: games you add, metadata edits, uploaded art and audio, and your votes. Metadata edits keep a public revision history.
- Friends and messages: who you send friend requests to, who you are friends with, and the direct messages you exchange with them.
How it is stored
Everything personal is stored encrypted. Sign-in codes work once and expire after ten minutes, sessions end when you sign out, and your status is never kept - it disappears within minutes of the app closing.
What is public
Player pages at kiili.me/profile/<name> show what the app syncs: your username, join date, status, playtime stats, recent games, and library. KiiLimeDB contributions - games, metadata history, uploads, and vote totals - are public and credited to your username. Your email is never public, and individual votes are shown only as totals.
Third parties
- Sign-in code emails are delivered through a transactional mail provider, which processes your email address for that delivery.
- Game achievement pages query RetroAchievements using your linked RetroAchievements username.
- Game icons on profile pages load from RetroAchievements and SteamGridDB servers, which see your browser's requests like any image host.
What we do not do
No advertising, no analytics, no tracking cookies, and nothing is ever sold or shared beyond the services named above. The website keeps your session in your browser's local storage; that is the extent of it.
Your choices
You can remove your profile picture, sign out everywhere the app or site is signed in, and stop syncing at any time by signing out of the app. To have your account and everything tied to it deleted, email [email protected] from the address on the account.
